Planner Madness

When your 5 year old takes your picture at the most flattering angle!😂😍 A few things:

1. If you saw my Stories from today, you've already heard that I lost my day planner in Texas! I'm so old school, but writing things down is how I function!👵🏼 Still holding out hope someone opens the front cover {and the front cover alone. Also in stories.} and sees my phone number! Haha!

2. My first baby starts Kindergarten tomorrow! Thinking about all the the things that go into that and my feelings about it are all over the place! I want my kids to be independent, self assured, and kind. As much as want to be next to him, protecting him, and hearing what he hears 24-7, {😂} I go back to the quote that says, "There are two gifts we should give our children. One is roots, the other is wings." Love that boy! And the pictures he takes are my favorite! Hahaha!

3. I feel like I'm looking pretty tired in this pic, so let's just talk about how I went in for an ultrasound last week from that tummy pain I was talking about, and they said there was fluid that was probably from a ruptured ovarian cyst, followed by a case of shingles when we got to Texas!😂 My sweet doctor called in some medicine and it's so much better, so between that party and the cutest newborn in the world attached to my bosom all day and night, I think that explains that!😂😂😂 But, I mean, what Mama ISN'T at least a little bit tired?! #MomLyfe It's all part of this amazing Motherhood journey, and as weird as it sounds, I'm grateful for all of it. Also, after a rough pregnancy, this stuff could feel like a lot, but it's weirdly manageable! It's amazing what you can handle when all your energy isn't being used to eject all the food you're eating!😂🙈 As always, thinking about all you Mama's in the throws of being sick! #thedaintypear #7weekspostpartum

Back to School Night

Well, it was Back to School Night for our cutest little Kindergartner!:) I obviously forgot about it until the last minute, because I was basically in pajamas and then these beauties came in the mail and I threw them on with my sweats! Hahaha! I've been eyeing a good pair of platform sandals for a long time now, and I was excited to find these! They're comfy, fit true to size, and come in a bunch of colors! They're linked below! Pretty sure I had a pair of the flip flop version of these all growing up! Hahaha! Anyway, Back to School night was a success! Well, minus the no pants, no shoes thing going on for half of our kids! We like to think the "Come as you are" mentality we have at home reaches to other places, too. Haha! B is in dual immersion and got to meet his English and Spanish teachers! And I didn't even cry! Yet.;) Probably because I was distracted running after the shoeless, pants-less children escaping from the stroller and making their way around the school! I'm always so happy when the kids get to have new opportunities, but I also love keeping them close and have loved having them home all summer!<3

Making the Sabbath a Delight

Happy Sunday! Sunday really is good for the soul. We didn't make it to church today, and this may sound silly, but that's something that is actually really hard for me! I love being at church, and with 5 littles that are so, well, little; I feel like the 3 hours of learning and worship really does refill my cup. Even though we weren't able to go today, we spent the day as a family and went on a Sunday drive. I've been on kind of a mission to really try to consciously make the Sabbath a delight, like the title of this conference talk!

Obviously with a newborn it gets a little crazy, and even during pregnancy sometimes it was really hard to get there and be prepared with being sick, but even just the little things helped. Things like setting out the kids' clothes the night before so the morning of isn't a mad dash. Things like knowing what we are going to eat for breakfast and having a quick plan B if for by some miracle we sleep in and don't end up having time for a fancy Sunday breakfast. Things like packing my bag for church the night before and making sure the snacks and doodle boards are ready to go. {We don't usually take any other toys to church, but then if we sit by a family with toys, my kids try to play with them, so I'm reevaluating that. Haha! Any advice, Mamas?} Things like setting my scriptures, iPad, and lesson manuals next to my things so they are ready! Things like making sure I have extra diapers in my bag. {Duh, but I've seriously had to leave before to take babies home because I've forgotten! Haha!} And also things like saying a prayer before church to get in the mindset of being ready to take the Sacrament. It makes all the difference when my mind is already there instead of muttering a quick one as the bread comes down the aisle!

Small, simple, and easy things that probably seem like a no-brainer to everyone else, but something I have to intentionally think about to be organized! Haha! And then, after church we love being able to watch family movies, give the kids naps, {my hubby jumps on that train, too!} and do something in nature if we can! I feel like one of the places God's presence is felt is being around His creations! And this state is especially beautiful for that!

I would love to hear what things YOU do to make the Sabbath a delight, no matter your beliefs or religion!:) Also, my hubby is home from a business trip, so we are so happy to have him home!
Have a great week!<3

Pregnancy Lane

Today, my sweet cousin sent us our Maternity pictures, and I got all sorts of nostalgic and emotional looking through them! Isn't it crazy how 5 weeks of pregnancy can feel like years, and 5 weeks of them being out in the world can fly? When I look at almost every picture, video, or memory of some sort from this pregnancy, I can remember how I was feeling in that moment, if that even makes sense. Before and after these pictures, I was throwing up, just like most of the pictures or videos in my feed from the pregnancy. Now that I'm feeling so much better, it's crazy to me how that was happening, but after 5 consecutive years of being sick to the point of IV's multiple times per week, it was my normal. I knew that it couldn't hold me back from doing things all the time. It definitely did keep me from things, lots of things, but I also tried to do as much as I could. My kids needed me, and the moments I was feeling good, I would throw on some lipstick and try to do things I liked--like making some of the silly videos or going somewhere with the family! Every outing meant that we would spend time on the side of the road, in the bathroom, or searching for a garbage can to toss my throw up bag. Now when I think about it, I'm so overwhelmed with emotion! I have been meaning to do a video about it, but every time I've thought about it I've been too emotional!

I feel like now that we are through it, it is easier for me to talk about, because I didn't ever want to sound like I was giving a cry for help or asking for pity, and honestly I don't even know if I knew the magnitude of how difficult it actually was! It was like I couldn't even remember what a "normal" person felt like! During the sickness, after IV's, or on the extra rough days, I tried my best to throw on some lipstick and keep going, but there were days that it felt like an overwhelming burden. But that's the thing: Pregnancy, or Motherhood in general, no matter how it comes about, is such a labor of love! Elder Holland I think said it best, "Maternal love must be divine. There is no other explanation for it." Whenever we Mamas are feeling hard on ourselves, just remember what you went through to bring those babies into the world or into your family. Whether it be a sick pregnancy or years of waiting , procedures, and praying; each Mama's journey is different but so similar in the sense that we all love these babies so much, and are willing to do anything for them. How precious the responsibility and calling to be a Mama to these sweet babies.

Kindergarten Feelings!

This little boy had his Kindergarten Assessment today! I have so many feelings about my oldest going into Kindergarten! I mean, wasn't I in labor with him like 5 minutes ago?! But I read a conference talk once about how our purpose as parents is to raise our kids to be good, independent adults. I think this little one is well on his way to that. He is so amazing, and even though we try to be the best parents we can, I'm pretty sure he came out that way!<3 Love my little B!

Here is an excerpt from an article and a video below that references what I was talking about earlier!:) I haven't found the talk yet, but this is talking about similar things! I haven't seen the video yet, but loved that quote by Elder Maxwell!

"Apostle Neal A. Maxwell taught, “Those who do too much for their children will soon find they can do nothing with their children. So many children have been so much done for they are almost done in.”

So when it comes to raising children who will become independent adults, how can parents do it best? When does helping turn into hovering? How can parents teach about consequences without being cruel? Jean B. Bingham, first counselor in the Primary general presidency, and author Merrilee Boyack share personal stories and expert insights to help answer these questions in this episode of Gospel Solutions for Families."

Dishwasher Shopping!

When your dishwasher floods your kitchen and you take it apart without knowing what the heck you're doing, you make an impromptu date night to buy another one! We had to drive separately, so no car karaoke🙁, BUT, I love this guy more and more and his positive attitude, even when the appliances stop working and his wife thinks she's a repair person!;) And he even took me to dinner to get some Italian food, because sometimes you miss the Motherland and need some serious carbs.:) Haha! #thedaintypear #tdpmarriage
